Chip on Board – The COB LED strips are there!
LED strip without light points – a continuous strip of light, bright and without interruption? This is possible with our COB and neon flex strips.COB strips and neon flex LED strips can be installed directly in the viewing area. There are no more disturbing, individual light points.
COB strips
Due to their flexibility in equipment and length, LED strips can be used in a versatile solution and are a great light source to illuminate rooms in duel.So far, however, most LED strips have been used to create indirect light. This is due to the fact that the individual light points were therefore the LED blocks, visible and thus a visually not very nice switch series is visible during operation.
What is the difference?
For previous LED strips, so-called SMD LEDs are used.SMD stands for the type: Surface Mounted Device, a component that is mounted on the surface.Since the components of the LEDs are individual completely coated components, these are brought to a circuit board in a row – with appropriate distances. This creates the visual impression as a light point chain.
There are no completely coated LEDs for COB strips. The individual light emitting diodes are applied directly to the circuit boards without sheathing. This means that significantly more LEDs can be installed tightly packed next to each other.Once the LEDs are applied to the strip, the surface of the LEDs is provided with the flourec layer, which creates even better uniformity of the light image.Of course, you can see that COB strips “gaps” between the individual LEDs are also dark when you look at something. However, this is only recognizable when the stripes are strongly dimming.

The advantages of COB LED bands resulting from this are obvious:
- Continuous LED light strip without individual light points
- Higher brightness due to higher LED density
- No indirect hidden installation necessary

In addition, the COB LED strips have a higher beam angle of approx. 170° – which creates less directed light and enables even better illumination of rooms and surfaces.
The general advantages of LEDs remain:
- Very flexible application options and easy to install
- Easily modified in length thanks to short separating sections (simply cut off)
- Each disconnection point has solder contacts so that disconnected strip pieces can be reconnected to power.
- Strips are equipped with double-sided adhesive tape
Some COB configurations:
- Operating voltage: 24V
- Degree of protection (IP): IP20 & IP65 – IP67 on request (since assembly is not easily possible due to the sheathing, the corresponding lengths must be manufactured depending on the project).
- Lengths of individual strips: 1m – 7 meters
- Length sets: 1m to 14 meters
- Plain stripes in warm white (2800K – 3000K), neutral white (4000K – 4500K), cool white (6000K – 6500K), red, green, blue
- CCT – Changing Color Temperature Strips with color temperature range 2700K to 6500K
- RGB – normal color spectrum of the RGB LED strips as well as RGB-WW RGB strips plus warm white with 2800K – 3000K
Are COBs new?
No actually not.COB LEDs are already used as standard in high-performance lamps, so that large luminous fluxes can be generated with relatively small lamps and small amounts of electricity (compared to HQR lamps). The use of LED strips on flexible conductor strips, however, is relatively new.
